Arduino in India at half price as compared with imported!

Indian manufacturing cost and the prices of semiconductor is always been much much lesser than that of US or EU. This has made it possible to manufacture Arduino in India at half the price that of the Imported one.
The Freeduino which is 100% compatible with the original design costs Rs. 800 / Rs. 1000 / Rs. 1200 (different versions) as it is made here.
The design, functionality, electrical pin arrangement, mechanical pin spacing is same as the original Arduino.
The only concern as of writing this blog (Dated 30th March 2010) is shortage in the supply of ATmega8, ATmgea168 & ATmega328 microcontrollers. These parts are not available (trust me they are not at all available) in any part of the world.
Thus making it available is a big challange for Indian manufacturers.
I personally have checked with almost all Indian component sellers and they have little or no stock of these ICs.
(EDIT- Now these mega328 are available with us) See this page for ATmega328P-PU
Still the good news stands tall. The Arduino is finally available in India at low cost. Atmel will certainly improve the production lines of these controllers and should be available easily.
